PDF Tools
Merge, split, rotate, tidy and stamp your PDFs — free, with no signup and no daily limit. Pick a job below, choose your file, download the result.
Files merge in the order shown in the list. Use the ↑ and ↓ buttons to change the order, and you can add more files — they join the end of the list.
Download merged PDFPage numbers start at 1. The extracted pages become one new PDF, in the order you list them.
Download extracted PDFAt least one page must remain in the document.
Download trimmed PDFThis stamps typed text onto the page — a simple, honest way to add a name or note. It is not a handwriting image or a cryptographic digital signature. The built-in fonts cover Latin letters, numbers and common punctuation; scripts such as Urdu, Arabic or Chinese cannot be stamped yet. If the text is wider than the page, it is automatically shrunk to fit.
Download PDF with textHonest note: this is light compression — it re-saves the file using compact object streams, which can shrink PDFs that carry wasted space. It does not re-encode images, so PDFs made of scanned pages may not shrink at all. The result always tells you the before-and-after size.
Download compressed PDFWhat Are PDF Tools?
PDF files are widely used for sharing documents because they preserve page layouts across different devices. However, editing the structure of a PDF can be inconvenient when you only need to combine files, remove a page or correct a document's orientation.
The Fact Techz PDF Tools page brings together six free document utilities: Merge PDF, Split & Extract, Rotate, Delete Pages, Add Text and Compress.
You can combine several PDFs into a single document, extract a selected page range, rotate pages, remove pages you do not need or stamp a name or short text onto pages. The compression option provides light, structure-based compression rather than aggressive image optimisation.
All six tools process files in your browser using pdf-lib. Your files are not uploaded to a server, and no account is required.
These tools are intended for practical PDF organisation and straightforward document changes, without requiring separate software for each task.
How to Use the PDF Tools
- Open the Fact Techz PDF Tools page.
- Choose the tool that matches your task: Merge, Split & Extract, Rotate, Delete Pages, Add Text or Compress.
- Select the PDF file or files you want to work with.
- For merging, arrange the uploaded files in your preferred order by dragging them before combining.
- For extracting or deleting pages, choose the relevant pages or page range.
- For rotation or text stamping, select the required rotation or enter the short text you want to add.
- Run the selected operation and download the resulting PDF.
- If your document requires several different changes, review the output before deciding whether to perform another operation.
Why PDF Files Become Large — and What Compression Can Actually Do
A PDF is more than visible text
A PDF is a document container that can hold text, fonts, images, page descriptions and other internal resources. The size of the file depends on what is stored inside it, not simply how many pages it contains.
A text-heavy PDF may be relatively small because ordinary text can be stored efficiently. A document containing detailed photographs or scanned pages can be much larger because the visual information requires more data. This explains why a short scanned document can occupy more storage than a much longer text-based document.
Why scanned PDFs are often large
When a document is scanned, its pages may be stored primarily as images. Even when the page looks like ordinary printed text, the PDF may contain a picture of that text rather than text characters.
Image resolution, colour information and the image compression method all affect the resulting file size. A high-resolution scan can preserve fine details, but it can also require considerable storage. Photographs, diagrams and full-page illustrations can have a similar effect.
What light PDF compression means
The Fact Techz Compress tool uses pdf-lib to re-save the PDF structure. This is a light form of compression. Re-saving may produce a smaller file when the document's internal representation can be stored more efficiently.
However, it does not mean that large embedded photographs or scans will be aggressively reduced in resolution or recompressed. If the images already account for most of the file size, changing the surrounding PDF structure may have little effect.
Why compression results vary
PDFs are created by different applications and may already use efficient storage methods. A document that has already been optimised may offer little room for additional reduction through a structural re-save. Another document may benefit more from the same process.
The result therefore depends on the original file rather than a fixed compression percentage. It is also important to distinguish structural compression from image compression. Image compression may involve reducing image quality or resolution. The Fact Techz tool is not presented as an aggressive image-compression service.
When another approach is necessary
If a PDF contains large scans and must meet a strict file-size requirement, reducing the original image resolution or using a dedicated image-optimising workflow may be necessary.
For a document that mainly needs pages combined, reordered at the file level, extracted or removed, the other PDF tools may be more relevant than compression. Choose the operation based on the actual problem instead of assuming that every PDF needs to be compressed.
Which PDF Tool Should You Use?
| Your task | Tool to use | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Combine several PDF documents | Merge PDF | A single PDF containing the combined documents |
| Change the order of documents before combining | Merge PDF | A merged PDF following your chosen file order |
| Save only a selected page range | Split & Extract | A new PDF containing the extracted pages |
| Correct sideways or upside-down pages | Rotate | A PDF with pages rotated by 90°, 180° or 270° |
| Remove unnecessary pages | Delete Pages | A PDF without the selected pages |
| Put a name or short note onto pages | Add Text | A PDF with the text stamped onto its pages |
| Try to reduce PDF file size | Compress | A structurally re-saved PDF that may be smaller |
| Prepare selected pages for sharing | Split & Extract | A separate PDF containing the chosen range |
Who Uses PDF Tools and Why?
- Students: Combine notes or extract the pages needed for study.
- Office workers: Organise reports, forms and supporting documents.
- Job applicants: Combine application documents into a single PDF.
- Teachers: Extract selected pages from teaching materials.
- Small businesses: Remove unnecessary pages from documents before sharing.
- Administrative staff: Correct page orientation and add short identifying text.
- Researchers: Extract relevant page ranges from longer documents.
Common PDF Mistakes and Good Practice
- Merging in the wrong order: Arrange files before running Merge PDF.
- Deleting pages without checking: Confirm the selected pages before creating the new document.
- Confusing extraction with deletion: Extraction creates a PDF containing selected pages; deletion removes selected pages.
- Rotating unnecessarily: Check the intended orientation before choosing 90°, 180° or 270°.
- Expecting dramatic compression: Scanned pages and embedded images may limit size reduction.
- Skipping output review: Open the resulting PDF and check that its pages and content match your intention.
Honest Limits
Fact Techz provides six free, browser-based PDF operations using pdf-lib. Files are never uploaded, and no sign-up is required. The Compress tool performs light structural re-saving only; it does not promise aggressive image compression. Because scans and embedded images often dominate PDF size, reductions vary and may be small.
Frequently Asked Questions
How can I merge PDF files for free?
Open Merge PDF, select the documents you want to combine and drag them into the required order. Run the merge operation to create a single PDF containing the selected files.
Can I split a PDF without uploading it?
Yes. Fact Techz Split & Extract processes the PDF in your browser. Select the page range you want and create a new PDF containing those pages.
How do I rotate a PDF page?
Choose the Rotate tool and select the required rotation. The available angles are 90°, 180° and 270°.
Can I delete pages from a PDF online?
Yes. Use Delete Pages to select the pages you want removed. The tool produces a PDF without those selected pages.
How do I add my name to a PDF?
Open Add Text and enter the name or short text you want to stamp onto the document. This feature adds text to PDF pages; it is not a full document text editor.
Why is my PDF still large after compression?
Large embedded images and scanned pages often account for most of a PDF's size. Fact Techz performs light structural compression, so a file dominated by images may show little reduction.
Are my PDF files uploaded to a server?
No. The six Fact Techz PDF tools process files locally inside your browser using pdf-lib. You do not need to upload documents to a server or create an account.
